PCSO’s from Westminster Safer Transport Team with a Tfl Revenue Inspector, joined at the back from Tower Transit L to R, Kieran McDonnell, Patrick Smith and Angus Auden.
Tuesday 24th February saw the start of this years bus day programme and this monthly scheme is run to advise and train children and young adults with special needs to use the transport network independently.
It is run by the TfL Travel Mentor Service with the help of Tfl revenue Inspectors and Police Community Support Officers from the Westminster Safer Transport Team. Tower Transit provides a bus and driver each month to facilitate the event and Angus Auden, one of our drivers from Westbourne Park Garage has become the regular driver on the bus day and he gets involved by using the PA system and answering questions from the group.
For this event, we used one of our new Hybrid Volvo vehicles and there was some great feedback on the new Tower Transit livery, how quiet the engine was and how smooth Angus drove!
Some of the practical scenarios included, stranger danger, suspect packages and how to report crime on a bus.
This type of event is very important for us as it meets our Vision and Mission statement to get involved and help the communities we serve.
